Corporate headshots can be unique!
All three were shot separately on a white background and this composition was made using fully transparent background replacement.
For the sake of consistent branding over an entire design landscape, many companies choose to have headshots of their employees on a simple, neutral background.
Background colors that work well with websites include:
Shades of gray - black or white and everything in between
Solid colors
Transparent - head and shoulders blend right into your web design
On top of that, some headshot photographers will ensure that the images they deliver have “three blank sides.” This means that the images will have a consistent border with the same background color on each edge, with the exception of the bottom edge. Again, this makes it much easier to incorporate images into website design.
All of this seems quite formulaic, like every image across every company is going to start looking the same! But outside of just background color, there are many other choices which will affect your whole company’s appearance.
Wardrobe - color palettes, patterns, logos, styles
Pose
Facial expression
Working with your photographer to sort all of these things out early in the process will streamline the whole process for your company and make it easy to get the perfect images for your team without any guesswork.
For these images, we shot on a white background and perfected the tone in post-production. Each person has a little pop of color or piece of jewelry so they stand out, but all three complement each other perfectly.
